Context
Candidates are encouraged first to explore the work of computational researchers at the Universities of Oxford/Cambridge/Southampton for overlap with their own research interests in enabling pharmaceutical science, noting the BBSRC remit restrictions do not permit research into named human diseases.
Only Oxford and Cambridge will be open for Autumn 2026 entry; Southampton will join in 2027.
Indicative Oxford supervisors are highlighted here. Cambridge and Southampton TTPS websites will follow soon. For now, please browse relevant departmental websites at these institutions.
As this is a new course, we have assembled a page of example projects recently conducted in Oxford in partnership with GSK.
Entry route
For those applying for entry in 2026, there will be one entry route regardless of the academic institution where you will be carrying out your research. Applications to Oxford and Cambridge will be reviewed as a single group, and will be administered via the University of Oxford's admissions portal. More details will be provided in due course.
Funding
TTPS can offer up to eight fully-funded studentships per year across our partner academic institutions.
For 2026, all long-term DPhil/PhD research will be based in either Oxford or Cambridge.
Oxford Colleges
All students registered at the Universities of Cambridge or Southampton will be offered an affiliation membership of Linacre College, which will provide the opportunity to participate in college social activities and to access college dining and sports facilities.
If applying to the University of Oxford for long-term DPhil study, you will be formally admitted to one of four colleges partnered with TTPS:
Linacre
Welcoming students from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines and popular with ILESLA students, Linacre is known for its interdisciplinary focus.

A graduate college with an international ethos, St Cross has many Professors for its Fellowship size, and a good mix of students across taught and research degrees.
